Mark Mastop, Manager Innovation & Product Development, announces the release of an open source edition of Aquima this fall during the congress Trends in BPM.
Everest releases a special edition of the in-house developed software suite with the objective of serving the maturing demand for open source software in the government/non-profit/non commercial market. Outsiders now get the chance to further develop the platform. The open source version will be available as of this fall.
Kees Buisman, CEO at Everest: “Others say it, we do it. By providing this open source version of Aquima, the rules of the game will probably change. The release of a free open source version of top-notch licensed based commercial software does not occur often. For the past ten years we have been developing Aquima using practical experience and customer input. Two years ago we have taken a leap by distributing Aquima through partners. Now the time has come for the next step as we discover that there is a great demand for an open source version in various segments and the advantages that go with it.
Everest continues to develop and extend Aquima. However, the development will also occur and be stimulated through a broad open source community. The opportunities and possibilities that will arise look very promising.
By modelling instead of programming, Aquima enables users to create and maintain business critical applications by themselves – without the need for programming.
The open source version will be known as the Community Edition. The Community Edition will be free for download and use. A portal will be launched to support open source users. It will support content such as product information, training materials and the possibility for an exchange of knowledge and plug-ins. For commercial organisations we will still offer The Professional Edition and the Enterprise Edition. Those editions will offer the full set of functionality, service levels and guarantees.
